Students, workers and their supporters held a protest at the Emory University administration building yesterday to protest the schools contract with Sodexo, a company notorious for worker mistreatment and anti-union practices. Sodexo has also been condemned for international human rights abuses, as well as being a military and prison contractor.
When the president refused to meet with them, students escalated the rally into an occupation of the administration building. The occupation ended with a promise to meet with the protestors on Thursday, however the president refused to allow media to document the meeting, and will not allow workers to participate. A rally is planned for thursday at 2pm to coincide with the meeting.
